Links

By clicking on any of the following you will access some of the publishing houses and journals with which Chris has close current links. You may purchase subscriptions, browse archive material, and buy books on-line. Also listed here are some angling sites with which I have links, and can recommend from happy personal experience.

Carcanet Press

Carcanet maintain what is probably the best poetry list in Europe, if not the world. You may purchase any of their poetry list by using this link, read poetry, add current events to your diary, and also access the web pages of PNReview

Jessica Kingsley Publishers

Jessica Kingsley Publishers specialise in the production of books relating to counselling, social work, psychology, and mental health. You may browse their catalogue here, and buy books on-line.

Cambridge University Press

Cambridge University Press (CUP) are one of the oldest academic publishers in the world. On this site you may browse their academic catalogue, look at the range of their journals, and also purchase textbooks, monographs, and so on. You can access some of Chris's work (largely material on phonology or metrics) by typing 'McCully' into the CUP Search box.

Trout and Salmon magazine

The largest-circulation game fishing magazine in Europe, and one that celebrated its 50th year of publication in 2006.

Waterlog magazine

The editors of Waterlog - 'the greatest angling journal of all time' - have been kind to me over the past few years. On this site you can read excerpts from some of the splendid articles the journal runs, and can search back numbers of the journal by clicking on the 'Archive' button. There you will find fragments of some of my own neglected masterpieces, including 'Almost an octopus' (2004), 'Casting at the garden gnome' (2005) and 'Don and the sturgeon' (2007).

John Rylands Library - Special Collections

This link will take you to the Special Collections of the John Rylands University Library of Manchester. After opening the page, click on the link to 'literary archives' if you wish to see some of the collections of archival papers falling under the remit of the Modern Literary Archives Project.

Department of Linguistics and English Language, University of Manchester

A group of scholars with which I had an association of over 20 years - and one of the best departments of its kind in the UK.

Taalcentrum VU

Courses and training for those wishing to begin, to improve or to polish their working knowledge of aspects of English.

Amazon Books

A site that should need no introduction. Books - new, second-hand, pristine or slightly foxed. Worldwide delivery. Great site.

Coch-y-Bonddu Books

One of the best - if not the best - sites in which to find angling books. Includes what for the time being are sales and distribution of my own The Other Side of the Stream (1998) and Sketches with Fishing Rods (2008). Extensive list, including rare and hard-to-find titles. Worldwide shipping.

Pikefly dot Com

Dutch fly-fishing site (largely in English): tackle for pike and trout fishing; special events; fly-tying; belly-boats and accessories. E-mail or phone orders, plus shop opening times (Kampen). Recommended.

Dutch weather forecast

KNMI weather site. Click also on 'Maritiem' for tide-tables.

Westerlaan Publishers

This is the link to click if you need to find a copy of Ad Swier's book (2006) Passion for Pike or my own Sketches with Fishing Rods (2008).

The Float Tube Store (US)

Splendid range of tubes and pontoons available from this dealer, based in the US. Excellent service: we ordered three Outcast Trinities from this source in 2007, and they arrived in the Netherlands within a week.

Total Fishing

Dutch fishing site, with weekly catch reports, photographs, and links to other angling and angling-related sites.

Loop tackle

Fly-fishing site from Loop (Sweden). I very much like Loop gear, which I've used for many years and which has proved hugely efficient and reliable.

Hardy and Grey's fishing tackle and clothing

Site for Hardy and Grey's tackle and clothing (UK). Includes angling stories and reports. Again, I've used Hardy and Grey's gear for years: it has never - as in 'never' - let me down, and is always well-designed and durable.

John Norris of Penrith

Tackle and clothes from John Norris (on-line store). I've been dealing with this tackle shop since 1985, and even spent my first-ever royalty cheque here....

Float tubing (Ireland)

Great site devoted to float tubing (largely but not exclusively for pike). Includes some words and photos about Ireland and Sweden from one Chris McCully and friends.
